Josphat Kibiegon, the Administration Police constable accused of snatching Sh3.5 million from Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Eliud Mati at gunpoint on October 12 was yesterday together with his girlfriend Ms Rose Kajira, freed on bond.

They were freed on Sh1 million bond or Sh500,000 cash bail each. The Meru principal magistrate released the two when they appeared for their bail application.

They were remanded in custody after they took a plea on Monday, denying violently robbing the deputy governor, with the prosecutor Anthony Musyoka saying police needed to probe the matter further. –
