Njoro Girls High School principal and her deputy have been directed to file statements with their employer, the Teachers Service Commission, within 21 days.

The two, Milca Wanjiku and Esther Wambua respectively, are being reprimanded for negligence over a case where a Kiswahili teacher is alleged to have sexually molested six students.

It is alleged that teacher Paul Gicheru molested the students between June 2014 and June 26, 2015, and the two failed to take action against him.

According to letters seen by The Standard dated June 30 and signed by Nakuru County Teachers Service Commission Director Agnes Kitheka, the two have been asked to file statements with the commission.

“I am directed by Teachers Service Commission to say it is alleged that you should have your name removed from the register of TSC,” reads part of the letter to the Principal Wanjiku.

The letters further suggests that TSC will move in to investigate, consider and determine the case of the two senior administrators of the school after 21 days.

It is also noted in the letter copied to TSC secretary general and Njoro sub-county TSC staffing officer that the two will be given an opportunity to be heard.

Mr Gicheru on Monday denied the charges of defiling a 15-year-old student and an alternative count of indecent act in the first case.

He also denied five other counts of indecent act with five students where he is accused of touching their private parts in separate incidences between June 2014 and June 26 this year.

The prosecution led by State Counsel Martin Rabera opposed the teacher’s application for bond, saying he was likely to interfere with students (complainants) who are now at home after the school was closed as a result of students’ rioting over the teacher’s alleged ‘disturbing behaviour’.

The case continues on Monday where the six students will give their evidence before Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo.

 Domestic row

Meanwhile, An enraged man killed his lover in Kamoi village, Elgeyo Marakwet County, and dumped the body in a pit latrine in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The suspect identified as Hosea Rotich was in a come-we-stay relationship with the woman before the union went sour.

According to one of the woman's relatives, she had gone missing since last week Friday only to appear in a dream on Tuesday night asking to be removed from a pit latrine within the village.

The relative in turn alerted the community who mounted a search and found her in one of the pit latrines in the area.

A local, Lawrence Biwott, told The Standard that they had hectic time in retrieving the body from the 15-feet deep pit latrine, which was still being used.

Area OCPD Emmanuel Rono said the body had deep wounds on the head, an indication she was hit hard with a blunt object.
