MCAs have claimed their clerk is ever travelling abroad.
The county reps claimed his junkets are slowing down business in the House.
Nominated rep Jacqueline Nyang’ala told the assembly that motions could not be tabled unless the clerk, Jacob Ngwele (right), was around.
“The other week I wanted to table a very important document, but when I went for it from Ngwele’s office, he was out. I was directed to three staff members before one told me I had to get Ngwele himself,” Nyang’ala said on August 5.
Several members claimed the clerk is “ever on foreign trips” allegedly at the expense of House business.
“After two weeks, we hear he is in Canada, America, and Europe. I want to know when his post will be announced,” Wilson Ochola, the Utalii rep, said.
Deputy Speaker Kennedy Ngondi however suspended the discussion on grounds there was no substantive motion to discuss Ngwele, the interim clerk, in the assembly.
