Mombasa residents to pay for services online

Residents of Mombasa County will now pay for their bills and services online after JamboPay-an online payment gateway launched its first agency payment channel in the county.

This will see residents make payments with Visa, Mastercard, M-Pesa and Airtel Money. Students will pay school fees online as long as the respective schools have an enabled business account.

“The JamboPay agency model is going to bring services close to our customers. We are pursuing convenience for our customers and providing income opportunities for the agents,” said JamboPay CEO Danson Muchemi.

Biggest project

The first Agency in Mombasa is Winners Classique Limited. JamboPay seeks to recruit 5,000 agents in the county. The firm has already recruited 750 agents in Nairobi.

Agents will earn a commission of up to 40 per cent of total commissions earned by JamboPay. JamboPay makes money from transactions, charging a fee for every transaction it processes. The company’s biggest project is eJijiPAY- a partnership between JamboPay and the Nairobi County.

Through this, JamboPay has automated payment of various taxes and services for the county through its e-wallet service.

The firm estimates that it has transacted over Sh6 billion in 2015 alone. JamboPay currently serves more than 1,500 organisations in Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal and recently set up shop in Uganda.
