Kaymu now delivers goods at pocket friendly prices

NAIROBI, KENYA: Kenya’s online marketplace Kaymu on Thursday said it plans to grow listings on its site through a new and improved shipping model.

The company offers pocket friendly shipping services at Sh70 within Nairobi and Sh378 in far towns such as Mombasa. This means that one only needs to place order online and wait for delivery of the purchased product at their doorstep.

Currently Kaymu has several listings which range from smartphones like the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5, to fashion items like designer dresses and shoes.

Kaymu has the widest selection of products offered by thousands of top brands across diverse categories such as men's fashion, laptops, cameras, appliances, health, sport and fitness, women's clothing, watches, home and kitchen, audio, video and gaming.

“The launch of Kaymu has provided convenience to many Kenyans who now opt to shop online and get goods delivered to their doorsteps, we expect to double our listings in the next six months,” says Steve Momanyi, head of seller management and logistics at Kaymu.

“We have implemented shipping strategies and safety measures that are aimed at providing quality services to shoppers within Nairobi and across the country,” he says.

In an interview, Momanyi says Kaymu does not charge for listings as compared to other providers in the industry.

“To use Kaymu, a seller opens up a shop on our site, uploads details of the items to be sold and thereafter Kaymu will do the marketing online, offline and on other media channels to attract buyers.”

“We have a secure payment system which ensures that a buyer gets exactly what they ordered and a seller’s merchandise is safely sold.”
