Vihiga Queens remained top of Zone B Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League after settling for a one-all draw against Oserian Ladies at Oserian Stadium on Sunday evening.

Dorcas Shikobe scored for Oserian in the 12th minute before Selphine Muyonga pulled an equalizer in the 29th minute for Vihiga Queens.

Oserian Ladies had an upper hand into the match considering the fact that they had a good number of players who feature in the national women’s team Harambee Starlets, the likes of centre backs- Irene Ogutu and Dorcas Shikobe who plays the role of a striker at club level while the visitors, Vihiga Queens had forwards Enez Mango, Maurine Ater and custodian Lilian Awour who features for the national side.

Into the match, Vihiga Queens were on top of the league standing with 24 points from nine matches the same points with Oserian but the later had an inferior goal difference with both teams posting one defeat each in the league so far.

The home team started the match on a high with Jentrix Nabwire ruled offside by the referee in the third minute of play. The visitors reorganized well forcing their opponents to their first corner of the match that was taken by Vyonne Kavere but Mercyline Anyango chested the ball out for a goal kick.

Oserian Ladies replied immediately with Nabwire unleashing a shot towards goal but her feeble shot comfortably landed into Lilian Awour’s hands. Jentrix was on it again as she fed Dorcas Shikobe a delicious cross in the seventh minute but her shot went wide.

A minute later Oserian was on it again as they took complete dominance  of the match with Jentrix again providing a cross into the goal area with Shikobe heading home an opener in the 12th minute.

Vihiga Queens came in strongly after that goal earning a free kick outside the goal area with Kavere providing a sumptuous left cross towards goal but Selphine Muyonga failed to connect well to allow the ball roll out for a goal kick.

Vihiga Queens conceded a corner kick in the 20th minute but this time round, Shikobe cheeky chip was defended well for another corner kick that was not utilized. The home team seemed confident after the first goal but Jentrix’s long range shot in the 22nd minute but her shot went straight into Awour’s hands.

Oserian conceded a free kick outside the goal area that was taken by Kavere yet again but Muyonga’s header went over the bar three minutes later. Queens pressed on and their fruits were rewarded with Muyonga scoring an equalizer from a header in the 29th minute.

Both sides went to the breather with a 1-1 score and on resumption it was the home team that seemed organized missing a lot of scoring opportunities. On resumption, the match started on a slow note with Oserian making a double substitution Rael Kamanda and Leila Apiyo paving way for Juliet Mukhekhe and Leila Bertha Omita respectively.
