St Joseph's feel Wazito's weight in FKF Super League

NATIONAL SUPER LEAGUE

Wazito FC dismissed St Joseph’s 1-0 in a tough FKF Super League match to bag maximum points at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru yesterday.

The all-important goal came in the 82nd minute through Joachim Omollo, who got a perfect cross from Pius Mutambu to beat St Joseph custodian Steven Kamidi with a hard drive.

St Joseph’s gave a good account of themselves in the second half and they should have at least forced a draw had they utilised chances that came their way.

Despite the victory, Wazito coach Frank Ouna admitted having missed a number of good chances in the first half and should have won the match by a bigger margin.

“Yes, we won but it should have been with a wide margin had we utilised our chances in the first half. Our opponents dominated the second half after we lost steam,” he told Feverpitch in a post-match interview. St Joseph’s captain Samson Ndegwa, was the culprit in chief, wasting numerous chances in the second half.

Ndegwa should have done better after combining well with Michael Owino and Hamisi Juma, but the captain shot wide with Wazito custodian Stephen Njung’e well beaten in the 48th minute.

Five minutes later, Ndegwa was put through by Akunga Ochumo but the captain shot directly into the waiting hands of Njung’e who enjoyed a good afternoon between the posts.

Ouna praised the efforts of Njung’e who ensured his side bagged maximum points against a side that was determined to utilise the home support in search of an elusive victory in yesterday’s match.

Another chance for the home team came in the 74th minute when left winger Adams Fadhili went past Wazito defenders Dickson Ihaji, Edicah Mukolwe, Isaack Okoth and David Oswe only to be foiled by custodian Njung’e.
