Manchester United’s new Swedish target has admitted it is fun to be linked with the Premier League giants as his reputation as the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic grows.

According to The Sun, Jesper Karlsson is pulling up trees with Falkenberg, despite being rooted to the bottom of the Swedish top-flight, and has been scouted by United.

The promising star joined the first team this season and is already the club’s joint leading scorer with four finishes and two assists.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, he said: "Of course it’s fun, but I cannot do anything more than just go out, do my best and perform. If they check and they think I’m good, that’s just a plus."

Hakan Nilsson, the club’s director of football, remained coy on the subject of United's apparent interest but said it was a 'possibility' they were keen on him.

He added: "It’s a possibility they [United] have expressed an interest. Just like a number of other major clubs."
