ODM party factions emerge as Mbadi calls for sobriety

ODM Chairman John Mbadi.

ODM is yet to formally discipline perceived "rebels" from the county seen to be leaning towards Jubilee.

Five days after the party's national chairman, John Mbadi, called for dialogue to solve some of the issues affecting the party in the county, it has now emerged that the party could be divided in two.

One group appears to be supporting the county party chairman, Senator Chris Obure, and the other is siding with branch secretary, Governor James Ongwae.

But speaking at the opening of the county ODM offices on Sunday, Mr Mbadi said the party would not entertain individuals who were not ready to work with other members.

Mbadi said he had been invited to the county to solve emerging conflicts.

"The party is aware that some members took over party positions when it emerged that individuals in those positions were wavering. If, indeed, there are officials who are not ready to work for the party, then rest assured that we will remove them but before we do that, let us sit down and try to solve those issues," he said.

"If they are not ready to work with the party then they will have to go. I have come here to find a solution to some of these wrangles and I am ready to discuss them with all those who love the party" he added.
