Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has made good its threat and suspended, for six years, clubs and individuals involved in the on-going Extreme Sports Premier League.

The affected clubs will lose revenue in the event any of their players are signed by either a local or foreign side, but any individuals affected will not be able to contest for any posts during FKF elections, which are due in 2020.

The federation confirmed the suspensions in a circular addressed to all 20 branches. It had threatened to take action two weeks ago, just as Extreme Sports Limited was preparing to launch the 10th edition of their tournament in Nairobi.

The circular from FKF read:"The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee, in its meeting on August 10, 2016, adopted the following resolutions on individuals, clubs and players, who organise and participate in the unsanctioned football leagues and tournaments organised by the company known as Extreme Sports Limited.

"All clubs that participate in leagues and tournaments that are organised by Extreme Sports Limited are suspended for a period of six years from the date of this notice.

"Suspension of all individuals involved in organisation of Extreme Sports leagues and tournaments, whether they are currently members or will seek to be members of FKF in the future, for a period of six years.

"Suspension of all officials of clubs participating in leagues and tournaments organised by Extreme Sports Limited for a period of six years from the date of this issue.

"All players participating in leagues and tournaments organised by Extreme Sports Limited are free players and can join other clubs during the specified transfer period.

"The FKF-affiliated club that the player joins will appear as the first club in the player's passport.

"The clubs participating in the leagues and tournaments organised by Extreme Sports Limited will therefore not accrue benefits such as transfer fees, training compensation or solidarity payments when the players move from one club to another."

Apart from running their activities in Nairobi, the organisers of Extreme Sports have signed a deal with the federation's Mombasa sub-branch to sponsor their activities and are reportedly in talks with other branches.
