Gor Mahia Under 20 have qualified as group winners in Group A with six points after edging out Sofapaka 1-0. AFC Leopards finished second in the group after drawing 1-1 with Western Stima and both sides qualify

In Group B, Mathare United U20 qualified as Group winners with five points. Gor Mahia will meet Chemelil Sugar in the first quarterfinal on Sunday and Mathare United will face AFC Leopards in the second quarterfinal which will also be played on the same day at Camp Toyoyo

Mathare United won 1-0 against Chemelil Sugar to make it to the last eight of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) under-20 tournament at Camp Toyoyo Stadium on Wednesday.

The lone goal for United was scored by Adan Godana who netted in the 80th minute.

United were under pressure from the word go with goalkeeper Job Ochieng being forced to work extra hard in denying George Onyango, Peter James and Felix Olouch.

Godana should have scored earlier in the 15th minute from a free kick which went over the bar.

He was again at the end of another attack this time initiated by Enock Momanyi but he shot wide.

Chemelil’s Mustapha Mulisya nearly punished United at the half hour mark but his effort went way of the mark after he had done the spade work.

United continued to dominate in the second half with long balls coming from Austin Ochieng and John Mwangi. Chemelil had another chance towards the end of the match but it was still United who had the last laugh.

Posta Rangers left the competition despite a 1-0 win over Tusker in another match played at Ruaraka Stadium. The win by Rangers was not enough to take them through as they tied with Chemelil Sugar on goals but the sugar millers had a better goal aggregate.

All the group final matches were played on Wednesday with all the suspects making it to the last eight.
