Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have hit out at the Government over county funds.

Mr Ruto said they were shocked that the Government had dismissed the Commission for Revenue Allocation's (CRA) proposal that counties should get at least Sh400 billion.

"It is a clear indication that the Government is not ready to devolve enough resources to the counties to spur the growth of the units. It is time more resources are devolved so that projects that have been started are completed and others started," Ruto said.

Speaking in Nyangores on Wednesday, Ruto said the government should respect the Constitution and ensure that counties are supported.

Gideon said the Government should respect Kenyans by devolving enough resources to the counties, saying the units are closer to the electorate than State.

"The counties are starving from the State's continued decision to not devolve enough resources despite the incessant pleas from governors," he said.

He said as a senator, he was concerned by the hard stance taken by the Government.

"It is no secret that counties are closer to the people and everyone is looking up to them for projects. This is a reality that State should understand and release more funds," he said.

The two were accompanied by Zipporah Kittony (nominated senator), Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, Johana Ngeno (Emurua Dikirr) and Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat.
