Bordeaux suspend two players after bust-up

Goalkeeper Jerome Prior and defender Lamine Sane were "suspended indefinitely" by Bordeaux on Thursday due to a "serious incident" after the club's French Cup exit to Nantes.

According to several sources, the two players came to blows in the dressing room after a last-gasp loss.

The club said that they "would make no further comment on the matter and nobody will answer any questions about this decision".

Senegalese international Sane wanted to leave Bordeaux during the January transfer window, but could not find himself a club.

On Wednesday evening the Girondins bowed out of the Cup at the last 16 stage as Alejandro Bedoya's 118th minute goal gave Nantes a 4-3 extra-time win.

At full-time Prior argued with referee Frank Schneider that the Canaries' third goal, scored by Johan Audel, was offside.

He then proceeded to publicly berate his defenders for the mistakes they had made during the defeat.

It is not the first time that Prior has caused controversy this season. The 20-year-old apologised after insulting disgruntled supporters back in October during a defeat at Gazelec Ajaccio.

The suspensions for Sane and Prior bring even more problems for an already porous defence that have conceded 11 times in their last three games, and 18 in their last six.

With first-choice keeper Cedric Carasso out with a long-term injury, Paul Bernardoni will have to take over in goal after Prior's suspension.

18-year-old Bernardoni has played twice for the club since joining on loan from bottom side Troyes last month.
