Bungoma, Kenya: Bumula Constituency Development Fund has released Sh7 million to kick-start construction of a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in the area.

The college to be built at Bumula market centre to cater for local students will be constructed at a cost of Sh36 million, with some of the money being donated by Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking yesterday during a groundbreaking ceremony, Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula said the upcoming KMTC was his brainchild and would go a long way in offering jobs to locals.

"I am calling on all local residents and the stakeholders to support this project as it will go a long way in fighting ignorance and creating jobs," he said.

The legislator said the college would be the second tertiary institution in Bumula after Syombe Diploma Teachers Training College.

He called on residents to enrol their children in the two colleges.

Otsiula said he had consulted with Ruto and he would soon lay the foundation stone for the construction of the medical college.
