Kidero: I am ready to face allegations of bribing Judge Philip Tunoi

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero

MIGORI: Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has once again defended himself against bribery claims pitting Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi. The county chief who was speaking in Sori Town on Sunday where he attended a funds-drive for a local church, said he never knew Judge Tunoi and that he is a person he only saw on TV."Ata huyo wakili wanasema nilimpa pesa nimemuona tu kwa TV (I don't even know the lawyer whom they claim facilitated the bribery and he too is a person I first saw on TV)," he said.

He rubbished the claims that he bribed the judge Sh200 million and stated that the arguments were impractical. Kidero argued that it was beyond reality to claim that the alleged Sh300 million bribe was carried in a car-boot. He thrashed reports by the whistle blower Geoffrey Kiplagat, who had said in an affidavit that Justice Tunoi received Sh200 million from Nairobi governor Evans Kidero to have an election petition filed by the then petitioner Ferdinand Waititu (now Kabete MP), dismissed.

He said according to his estimate, the amount can only be carried in a lorry, something that was not realistic. However, the Governor said he was well prepared to face the allegations which were raised about the bribery.
