Pistol loaded with 11 bullets found at car wash in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya: Police are investigating the origin of a pistol that was found abandoned at a car wash in Nairobi.

Attendants at the car wash in Riruta Satelite estate, said they did not know the origin or owner. The Glock pistol had 11 bullets when it was discovered on Saturday afternoon.

Such pistols are not owned by government security agencies and police believe it belongs to either an illegal owner or licensed civilian.

Dagorreti OCPD Rashid Mohamed said the weapon was taken for further analysis and investigation to establish ownership. "We also want to know if the weapon has been used in any form of crime in the city. The attendants there said they found it in an open place," he said.

Last week, a licensed gun holder was drugged and robbed of his gun in his Muthaiga home. Meanwhile, two suspected thugs were on Saturday night lynched in a botched robbery on an Mpesa shop in Umoja estate, Nairobi.

The two were on a motorbike and had raided the shop and grabbed unknown amount of cash and a mobile phone before trying to escape when an alarm was raised.
