Peter Munya: We will support Uhuru, but won't join JAP

Peter Munya

Governor Peter Munya has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta of his support in the 2017 elections, but opposed plans to dissolve Jubilee-affiliate parties.

Speaking at a thanksgiving party for Joel Imitira, the Meru County Investment and Development Corporation chairman at Kirwiro Methodist church, Mr Munya said the region's voters will rally behind Uhuru in his quest for a second term though they are reluctant to dissolve the Alliance Party of Kenya (APK).

"When we formed APK, our dream was to use it to place Meru on Kenya's political and economic map. That dream has not died and we want to retain our identity," Munya added.

He announced that party delegates will meet in Meru on October 17, to discuss the way forward.

Recently, Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi, who is also the party leader said he is committed to dissolving the party and joining the Jubilee Alliance Party.
