Form 3 student shot dead by suspected thugs in Eastleigh, Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya: A form three student was Sunday night shot dead by a gang in a botched robbery in Eastleigh area, Nairobi.

The student identified as Aden Abdi Karim schools at Mwororo Mixed Secondary in Tana River and he was on holiday.

He was shot in the chest by a gang that was escaping on foot while being pursued by a mob Sunday night, police said.

Police say the gang had attacked and robbed a cyber café along Mayuyu Road and was escaping when an alarm was raised.

This prompted a mob to start chasing them.

“In the process, the gang opened fire, shooting the student in the chest. The gang managed to escape on foot and efforts to trace them are ongoing,” said Starehe police boss Bernard Nyakwaka.

The student was rushed to the nearby Medina hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police say they are yet to make an arrest in connection with the killing.

Elsewhere, police are investigating the cause of a fire at a popular club in Ongata Rongai. The fire destroyed property valued at millions of shillings as it raged for hours before being contained.

Police say it started from the club before it spread fast. No life was lost in the incident.
