Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi in UK for two-week political tour

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi left the country on Monday for a two-week political tour of the United Kingdom (UK) to promote his new party.

While in London, Mudavadi is scheduled to holds several meetings with senior government, political and business leaders in Britain.

He is scheduled to meet the 77-year old British doyen of liberal democratic politics Lord David Martin Scott Steel, who is Baron of Aikwood, to discuss devolution and the international liberal democrats' movement among other matters.

The ANC leader is also scheduled to meet the Director of African Affairs in the UK foreign office, Nic Hailey, to exchange views on economic and political developments in Kenya, the war on terror and regional issues such as the crises in South Sudan and Burundi, and the controversies dogging presidential elections in Rwanda and Uganda.

"I'll be seeking British views and positions on the anti-terror war and the escalating situation in the Great Lakes Region and the civil war in South Sudan. You know Kenya is intimately engaged in these matters through Igad and the East African Community", Mudavadi, a former Deputy Prime Minister (DPM), told The Standard.

A luncheon slated for the ANC leader hosted by the East African Association, a powerful British investors lobby with a lot of business investments in Kenya, will provide an opportunity to measure investor confidence in Kenya.

Mudavadi as guest speaker will discuss investment, environment and emerging opportunities in Kenya.
Mudavadi will cap his visit in a meeting with Kenyan professionals in Britain and explore the establishment of ANC Diaspora office in London.

"I want to tap into rich ideas and membership of the Diaspora on how to make ANC an all-inclusive movement for Kenyans. I'll also engage them on how they want modalities and logistics of their participation in elections to be", Mudavadi said.
