Kenya’s Court of Appeal overrules Environment and Land judges in 2,000 cases

MALINDI: The Court of Appeal has ruled that Environment and Land Court judges do not have jurisdiction over criminal appeals.

The decision by Judges Hannah Okwengu, Milton Asike and Fatma Sichale siting in Malindi declared proceedings before a bench constituted by judges Christine Meoli and Oscar Angote a nullity and directed that the appeals be heard afresh expeditiously by Judges of the High Court.

More than 2,000 cases will flop countrywide as a result of the Friday judgement.
