A man landed in court for allegedly hacking his neigbour’s dog that was spoiling his ‘drinking time’.
Geoffrey Lumiti, is accused of committing the offence in June last year at a pub in Kakamega.
The court heard that on the fateful day, Lumiti was having a drink and watching a football match at the pub. He was reportedly angered by a dog that was barking at him.
It is alleged that Lumiti, who was armed with a panga, angrily shooed the dog away before hacking it with the panga.
Lumiti denied the charges, claiming he was too drunk to hurt a dog.
“I can’t recall cutting my neighbour’s dog. I don’t even know whether he has one. On that day, I was very drunk and my friends carried me home because I could not walk. I had no energy to even slash a dog,” he said. His case will be heard on June 27.
