Since being allowed to sign a maximum of seven foreign players, Gor Mahia are making full use and have added two more players to their squad from Rwanda.

The pair left back Abouba Sibomana and right back Karim Nizigiyimana were formerly with Rwandese side Rayon Sports.

The Kenyan champions are not sparing any expense in bringing in new signings. Just a week after spending Sh1.8 million to sign former Tusker midfielder Khalid Aucho, the team has spent another Sh1.6million on their latest signings.

Rayon Sports spokesperson Aimee Emmanuel said the two players have finalised personal terms with Gor Mahia.

He told New Times of Rwanda: “It is true that they have gone to Gor Mahia and we have given them everything they needed to go, we wish them all the best.” The 25-year-old Sibomana, who has represented Rwanda national team since 2010, could now miss next year’s Africa Nations Championship (Chan) finals tournament which will be hosted in Rwanda. Chan is only eligible for players who play in their domestic leagues.

Rayon Sports is currently fourth on the table standings with 21 points from 13 games at the end of first round, 11 points behind arch-rivals and table leaders APR, who are five clear of second placed AS Kigali.

Last month, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced that Gor Mahia and Sofapaka will be allowed to sign seven foreign players.

At the same time coach Frank Nuttal is not taking chances in all competitions they are involved in this year.

Nuttal said he was out to achieve results and called on his players not to underrate any team.

“All teams in the Kenyan Premier League are capable of wrestling the title from us and the Caf Champions League would be even more trickier.

“Therefore, we’ll approach all teams cautiously and not to underrate any of them,” Nuttal told Feverpitch as they started their one-week pre-training session at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru yesterday.

Besides hoping to successfully defend the KPL title and also play well in the Champions League, Gor are expected to feature in the Council for East
and Central Africa Club Championships, Gotv Shield and Top 8 tournament.

Gor face Caisse Nationale De Prevoyance Sociale Sport of Madagascar between February 13-15 in the first preliminary round of the Champions League in Nairobi and the return match will be played two weeks later in Antananarivo.
