SIAYA: The local administration in Bondo, Siaya County, has banned loud music during the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations period.

Acting Deputy County Commissioner Samson Akatch ordered all chiefs and their assistants to conduct crackdowns in their areas of jurisdiction and arrest owners of entertainment joints who violate the order.

"We would like to have a conducive environment for candidates sitting the exams," said Akatch during this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations in Bondo on Monday.

He added: "We will therefore not condone any form of noise until the end of the KCSE and KCPE examinations," he said.

Elsewhere, parents and students in Siaya County have been cautioned to be on the lookout for people selling fake examination papers.

Speaking to The Standard, a Member of the Siaya County Assembly representing the youth Walter Okello warned parents that the con artists were also selling fake questions through SMSs and emails.

"These people are only out to make money out of unsuspecting parents and students and you should be careful not to fall prey to their con schemes," said Okello. There have also been reports of exam leakage in other parts of the country.
