The battle between the anti-drug agency Nacada and alcohol abuse went on in earnest at the Safaricom Sevens as tight measures were put in place to battle the vice. All fans who intended to drink were given armbands to show they were over 18 years and eligible to drink. Officials from Nacada were on hand to ensure that anyone found contravening the directive was handled accordingly. The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has voiced its support for Nacada and claim that they only advocate for responsible drinking at rugby venues and tournaments.
