Alcoblow squad surprises Nairobi, Machakos revellers

MACHAKOS COUNTY: Nightclub revellers got a rude shock when officers from the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) took the breathalyser Alcoblow to the area.

The officers from Nairobi arrived in Machakos town in a convoy of vehicles at 9pm and started the crackdown on various roads.

Many motorists were netted on the Machakos/Mutituni/Kangundo road near Kwanthanze as they drove home.

Speaking from Nairobi's Muthaiga Police Station, where they were taken, some of the victims said the exercise should be devolved to the county so they wouldn't have to travel all the way for detention and trial.

At least 20 people were arrested and detained overnight.
