Parents demonstrate over alleged sexual harassment in a Naivasha school

NAIVASHA, KENYA: Operations in one of the largest primary schools in Naivasha was paralysed after parents joined their children in protesting against a head teacher who was allegedly sexually molesting his students.

Teachers in Kipkonyo primary school in Ndabibi area were forced to flee for their lives as the irate parents stormed the school compound.

During the early morning incident, the shaken head teacher was forced to lock himself in his office and hide under the table as the parents some too emotional threatened to lynch him.

Armed police were forced to intervene as some of the abused students told of harrowing stories under the hands of the teacher who is in his mid-40s.

According to one of the minors, over 35 students had been abused by the teacher.

The class six pupil said that the teacher would call them into his office and take the pictures with dire warning of severe punishment if they revealed the incident.

“He has been touching our breasts, private parts and taking our pictures and we decided to tell our parents as we feared he would rape us,” claimed the minor.

One of parents Alice Ngala said that 35 students have been molested by the teacher who was six months old in the school that has close to 1,000 students.
