Mombasa City to host global tourism forum

Mombasa will play host to a major global tourism event next year.

The Skal International Congress will be hosted at Mombasa’s newest beach resort, Pride Inn Paradise Resort and Convention Centre in October.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, who led a strong delegation to Monaco last week, where they successfully lobbied to have Kenya host the congress, said Pride Inn Paradise Resort has the capacity to host the event.

“It is a brand new facility built to international specifications. I am personally impressed with the investors for putting up such a facility in Mombasa,” he said. The CS said the Government will offer support to the hotel to ensure the event is a success.

Skal is a professional organisation made up of tourism leaders around the world that promotes global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry.

Skal members, the industry’s managers and executives meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue common interests. Pride Inn Centre is built on a 16-acre piece of land. It has 280 rooms with conferencing facilities of up to 1,500 people.
