Etoile Sahel held in feeble title defence

Etoile Sahel of Tunisia were held 1-1 at home by FUS Rabat of Morocco Thursday as their unconvincing defence of the CAF Confederation Cup title continued.

Ahmed Akaichi gave the hosts a third-minute lead in Mediterranean resort Sousse from an offside position, slamming a rebound into the net from point-blank range.

FUS, shock 2010 winners of the African equivalent of the Europa League, gradually stamped their authority on the Group B matchday 2 clash and levelled midway through the second half.

A low cross eluded several defenders and Abdessalam Benjelloun tapped the ball over the line to silence a near-capacity crowd at the 25,000-seat Stade Olympique.
