Manchester United are unlikely to announce Jose Mourinho as their new manager today.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is meeting Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, in London to finalise a deal for him to replace Louis van Gaal.
Although talks are said to have progressed well and personal terms are understood to have been agreed, both parties do not expect confirmation of the deal until Wednesday.
Mourinho , 53, is expected to sign a three-year deal worth £30million, the United job his first back in football since he was sacked by Chelsea in December following a second spell there.
Special One Mourinho is keen to begin work immediately and it is understood United have been working off a list of his transfer targets for some weeks now.
