Our leaders should avoid hate speech

Leaders should embrace dialogue and desist from hate speech.

Their conduct is contributing to animosity instead of solving the pressing issues affecting the nation.

Hate speech is far from freedom of speech as it infringes on other people’s right.

We have seen many leaders being charged with hate speech, the latest being Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

The Opposition should find a better way of criticising the Government without using such inciting words. The foot soldier of the ruling party should also be civil in defending the Government.

We need to talk to one another not at each other. Let us respect each other and relate well for us to forge ahead.
