Kenya: Manufacturers utilizing industrial bearings should ensure that they procure them from authorised dealings in a bid to protect their capital investments, a leading supplier of the commodity has said.

AEA Limited, the firm that distributes Germany made FAG bearings says some industrialists had suffered losses due to purchase of counterfeit goods.

AEA Limited Manager in charge of Industrial bearings and Power projects Mike Davies Mwanzia said using appointed dealers as outlets was the only way firms can be sure of the quality because counterfeiters had gone high tech.

“We are looking at a situation whereby reputable firms continue to get insurmountable challenges as a result of usage of counterfeit goods,” Mwanzia said.

He however said it was very difficult to fake goods manufactured using the Germany technology because of the top quality engineering designs that are recognised all over the world.

Mwanzia said this was the reason why AEA is the biggest supplier of industrial bearings in Kenya, especially among manufacturers who must deliver within stated deadlines.

He was speaking at AEA Limited offices along Factory Street in Nairobi after receiving a new brand of the FAG model.

“AEA has taken the strategic decision of partnering with top notch firms from Germany, UK and many other parts of the world in a bid to ensure that their clients are served better”, he said.

Among the clientele in its stable include the Lafarge and RVR Group that is operating the railway from Mombasa to Kampala. AEA also deals with other Industrial Products like Chains and Sprockets, Belts, Industrial gearboxes among other industrial components.
