It has been another tough season for KCB with the team struggling in the lower reaches of the log.

The bankers will be excused if they feel jinxed since finishing fourth on the log in 2013, a thought not helped by their letting go of a number of key players.

This season does not look better either and coach Rishadi Shedu has admitted that today’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match against AFC Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium is a must win for them.

“Looking at our position on the log, it is a tricky place to be. If we win, we will go past two or three teams. On the other hand, if we lose, we go down to almost the bottom of the log.

“It puts us in a must win situation and that is what we are going for today,” he said.

Shedu admitted it will not be an easy match for his side as he believes their opponents are determined to build up on their recent good form.

“There is some peace and focus in AFC Leopards. They have also signed some good players and want to build up on this. It will be very tough for us,” he admitted.

Shedu said he will be without influential forward Paul Kiongera who though has rejoined the team is unfit for today’s match.

“Kiongera has trained only once with us. We cannot use him today but should be ready when we play Sofapaka on Saturday,” he said. However, in the absence of Kiongera, Shedu will turn to new signing Elly Asieche to lead the team in this fixture.

It is hoped that the new management changes at AFC Leopards will give the side some stability going into this match.

Leopards lost their first match of the second leg after going down 1-0 to Thika United in a fixture marred by violent scenes with fans protesting alleged poor officiating.

Leopards cannot therefore afford to lose another match at this stage and have to find a way to collect maximum points on offer.

At City Stadium, champions Gor Mahia will take on Thika United where they will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the log.

Gor Mahia have been on a roll since the start of the season with every win taking them closer to the title.
