Man killed in Pokot-Turkana border row

West Pokot, Kenya: One person has been confirmed dead and another seriously wounded in fresh gun fights on the border of West Pokot and Turkana counties.

Assistant County Commissioner in charge of special duties in Turkwel Charles Kitumwa said the attacks were carried out at short intervals in different villages within the volatile border region.

He said a 40-year-old man who was presumably searching for gold was yesterday morning shot dead at Chepaoon village in Sarmach area of Pokot Central.

Another middle-aged man was on Sunday evening shot in the stomach and wounded before the attacker varnished.

"Three warriors shot dead a 40-year-old man and escaped," he said.
