Man jailed for life over sodomy

Nakuru, Kenya: A HIV-positive, middle-aged-man has been sentenced to serve life imprisonment for sodomising his four-year-old son.

Appearing at the Nakuru Court before Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku, Joel Njeru was charged with committing the offence at Githima Estate in Nakuru on May 24 this year.

In her ruling, Judge Nthuku said it is better for the minor to live without such a father and handed down the maximum penalty for the offence.

Anthony Minchiru, Njeru's neighbour in his testimony said he heard the boy crying and when he came out of his house to check, he found the boy writhing in pain.

According to Minchiru, the boy could not walk and was rushed to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital.
