Kenyans told to shun crime

Kitale, Kenya: Kitale, Catholic Bishop Maurice Crowley led Church faithful to a procession in Kitale town on Easter Friday, urging Kenyans to maintain peace and disassociate from crime.

Bishop Crowley said peace is key to prosperity and called on Christians to uphold high morals and support the Government in fighting terrorism.

He urged the faithful to denounce terrorism, adding that taking people’s lives is against biblical teachings. “Let us mark the celebrations with calm and ensure we maintain peace. The country needs peace to prosper,” he said.

He urged the youth to avoid crime and excessive consumption of illicit brew and warned their life will be affected by bad practices.

Meanwhile, security was tight in Kitale town with police mounting roadblocks along Kitale-Eldoret and  Kitale-Lodwar highways, targeting aliens.

Local County Commander Lilian Okembo said adequate security has been deployed to patrol the county to ensure crime is stamped out.
