Police lose firearm to thugs in an attack

NAIROBI, KENYA: Two police women were thursday night injured and robbed of their guns in an attack by thugs in Nairobi's Shauri Moyo area. 

The officers were on patrol in Majengo slums when they were attacked and stabbed by the gang. Police say the gang snatched an AK 47 rifle and a pistol. 

The pistol was however recovered later on in a police operation that also saw 85 suspects arrested. the rifle which had 30 bullets has not been recovered.

Police say the two police women are admitted in hospital with injuries on their hands. This is the second time that female cops are being robbed of their guns in attacks in the area. Police recovered bloodied clothes in the opearation and say the suspects are being interrogated before taken to court.
