Owuor speaks out against graft in church

Nairobi,Kenya: Prophet Dr Edward David Owour of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness has warned bishops, pastors and other religious leaders  against turning the Church into a den of corruption.

Owour said most clerics were using the Church as a wealth-generating institution by collecting money from congregations, leaving the flock impoverished. The self-proclaimed prophet said it was because of corruption in the Church that society was experiencing increased criminal activities.

“God uses the Church to do his miracles and not fetching money from believers in exchange of healing,” said Owour. “The society shall be saved when Kenyan pastors begin preaching the repentance and healing message and stop with their famous panda mbegu (plant seeds) message,” he added.

Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua requested Owour to pray for peace and unity among residents.  Mbugua said Nakuru was a cosmopolitan town and needed unity if the development projects he was about to implement are to succeed.

“God is in control of everything and it is through him that education is going to improve and employment opportunities created for suffering youths,” said Mbugua.

There was a spectacle when hundreds of flamingoes flew over the packed stadium as dozens testified that they had been healed. Nationals from different countries including Angola, Uganda, Tanzania, Namibia, USA, Finland, China, Korea, Australia, UK, Burundi, Brazil and Holland attended the event.
