Teenager dies after suspected drug overdose at music festival

A teenager died from a suspected drug overdose at a music festival.
Jack Downey, 19, was at the Indiependence event in Cork, Ireland, when he fell ill.
He was rushed to Cork University Hospital on Friday night after being brought to medical services at the festival by friends.
Sadly, the keen sportsman passed away on Monday (August 5) afternoon surrounded by his family.
He was from the Clonmel area in south Tipperary and played was an avid hurler and a goalkeeper for Clonmel Og’s junior team, reports the Irish Mirror.
Clonmel Og GAA confirmed his identity and said: "Our worst fears were realised this afternoon with the news that Jack Downey passed away in the company of his parents.
"We are devastated and will have more to say in time.
"The Mass this evening goes ahead and all are welcome.
"At a time like this we need to be strong and there for each other."
His team paid a touching tribute on Facebook, with others quick to add their condolences.
Festival organisers warned of a "bad batch" of a substance going around the Mitchelstown festival and for people to look after themselves.
Cork University Hospital has confirmed that a number of people were admitted with "severe illness" after taking tablets.
They said in a statement: "CUH has received patients with very severe illness from taking Ecstasy at the Indie19 Festival in Mitchelstown.
"We are aware that a text message was issued to attendees concerning 'reports of a bad batch of something on the campsite'. Please circulate & to all attending stay safe."
In a statement, a spokesman for Indiependence said: "On Friday August 2nd a nineteen-year-old adult attending Indiependence Festival became ill.
"The on-site medical team of Doctors and Paramedics immediately treated the individual who was transferred to hospital by one of the on-site ambulances.
"Despite the best efforts of all medical teams, the individual passed away today, August 5th in hospital.
"As with all sudden deaths, An Garda Siochána are investigating any pre-existing medical conditions and the circumstances surrounding the matter.
"Our immediate thoughts and those of all the festival-goers are with the family, relatives and friends of the deceased at their very sad loss."
