Bungoma County Deputy Governor Hillary Chongwony has called for the arrest and prosecution of people accused of defilement.

Mr Chongwony complained that almost every week, defilement cases are reported in Bungoma, but the suspects are never arrested.

He said Government officials collude with the suspects and the families of the victims and settle matters out of court.

He said Mt Elgon, Bumula, Webuye East and West were the most affected. Speaking at Bungoma DEB primary school on Thursday, Chongony warned chiefs against convening Kangaroo courts with the victims' parents to solve the matters out of court.
