Pastor arrested for allegedly defiling teenager in Kitale church

KITALE, KENYA: A pastor in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County has been arrested after he was allegedly caught defiling a 13-year-old girl inside a church.

Milimani location chief Sylvester Momanyi said the youthful pastor was caught in the act by villagers after they were alerted by a child who saw the man sneak the girl into the church.

"I received a phone call from Hospital ward MCA Simon Toroitich that a pastor had been found defiling a teenager. I rushed to the scene and found that the culprit had already escaped," said the chief.

The administrator said that he managed to arrest the pastor's mother who reportedly lured the girl before the man defiled her.
Momanyi said: "The defiled girl who is also a sister in-law to the pastor said the cleric 's mother had told her not to panic because she was in safe hands with the man of God before the woman closed the Church door from outside leaving the two alone".
Momanyi took the girl to Kitale district hospital for treatment where she underwent tests to establish if she had contracted any sexually transmitted infections -STI while the pastor's mother was driven to Kitale police station to assist in the investigations.

The administrator said the pastor was later arrested from his hide out and taken to police station for questioning over the incident.

Momanyi condemned the incident and urged residents to be vigilant and also report such cases as soon as they are noticed and support the Nyumba Kumi security initiative to get rid of criminal activities in the area.

The girl, a class four pupil in a primary school in Kwanza sub-county had reportedly visited her sister who is the pastor's wife.
