Andrew targets a double in Bogoria

Bikes series leader, Andrew Pleasance, hopes to secure his second successive win of the season in the wake of his season-opening victory at the Narok meeting earlier in the year.

Pleasance hopes to eclipse defending champion, Harry Guelker, when the second round of the Kenya National Cross Country Championship takes off on Saturday and Sunday in Bogoria. Guelker is no pushover, having returned his bike second overall in Narok. Veteran off-road expert, Moses Mugo, has entered a KTM 525, while his son will be riding on a Honda 450 four-stroke bike.

Regulars Steve Scott, Rob de Boer, Tej Sehmi and Bruce Catermole are also expected to enter the bikes class. Quads champion, Shazar Anwar, in his Bombardier DS 650 Quad, hopes to stretch his lead in the championships against Punil Patel, Chantal Young, Pete Young and Zane Young in the category.

In Narok, Anwar romped home a credible fifth overall, beating Motorbike and Buggy competitors after he completed four laps. The Cars class is also anticipated to produce fireworks as Nish Lakhani renews rivalry with defending Champion Sammy Jessel.

Others expected in the cars class are rallying ace Asad Anwar, Salim Walimohamed and Rhino Charge specialist, Caroline Armstrong. The Rift Valley Motor and Sports Club round will be held in Bogoria area and will start in Mogotio.
