Former Education PS dies at his Nairobi home

Former Education PS George Imbanga Godia is dead. According to his family, the former ambassador to UNESCO passed away after a short illness.

The deceased was lauded by many as a visionary leader who was highly committed, motivated and driven by results.

During his tenure at the Ministry of Education, Godia established numerous connections with various world leaders in his quest to achieve the millennium development goals.


At Moi University, he rose from the position of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and full Professor respectively.

He also served as a Dean, in the Institute for Human Resource Development at the same institution.

Apart from teaching he also served as Director/Board Member of the Central Bank of Kenya and member of the National Transport Policy Committee, among others. 

He will be remembered for pushing for the expansion of Information Communication Technology education in Kenyan schools.


Many laud him as one of the best brains Kenya has ever produced and his death is a great loss to the country.
