Man Utd to play with nine strikers and one defender against Liverpool

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has sarcastically claimed that he will play with nine attackers and one man at the back against Liverpool in a crunch Premier League fixture.

The response came after a journalist asked Mourinho about his approach to games at Anfield, following a 0-0 draw the last time the sides met at the Kop.

“Yep, I play with one defender and nine strikers, don't worry about it! We play with one guy behind and then we go with a new system and we play with nine strikers, don't worry about it,” said ‘The Chosen One’

Mourinho also slammed football pundits who were former players for saying that the atmosphere at Anfield could negatively affect Man Utd players.

"I understand the tradition, the emotions around the supporters but I look at it in a professional way, what I try to tell my players from the beginning of the season is every match is important, there are no easy matches, there are no matches you prepare more carefully than others so if I try to instill this mentality in them then I am not going to say this match is more important than others,” added Mourinho.

The manager added that atmospheres like the one in Anfield motivate his players and that they would love every match to be like that.

Man Utd are still unbeaten this season but will miss the services of Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrrick who are sidelined with injuries. They will also be hoping that Romelu Lukaku continues his red-hot form against the reds.

Liverpool will be without talisman Sadio Mane who is out on injury but Brazilian star Phillipe Coutinho is expected to fill the gap.
