Revealed: Powerful people fighting Meru Governor Peter Munya

Meru Governor Peter Munya revealed that there are powerful people fighting him and his party while terming the merging of political parties as a wrong move during an exclusive interview on TV last night.

He said that strong forces are opposing the Party of National Union (PNU) which refused to dissolve and join the Jubilee party merger.

'Some people feel that the advancement of PNU in the Central region is a threat to them and they want it to be cleared out", he said.

The Meru Governor accused Deputy President William Ruto of being responsible for wiping him out of the the political arena citing that the latter is concerned over his ambitions to run for presidency in 2022.

"Those who want us out fear that our growing popularity in Central Kenya will deter their presidential ambitions in 2022 as they see this region as a possible stronghold for their campaigns".

"Furthermore the fight between Kiraitu Murungi and I is instigated more by DP Ruto than the Senator himself", he added.

When questioned about Jubilee government's commitment to support devolution, the former Council of Governors chairman (COG) remained coy over his support for their re-election saying that they have not done enough but backed President Uhuru Kenyatta to deliver more.

"There is a feeling among the Meru people that Jubilee has not done enough for them as they had promised in 2013 but that is a decision the voters have to make", he explained.

Governor Munya also liked NASA's plan to increase funds for county governments if elected and he is sure of a win on August 8.
