Bahati vows to support Ruto in 2022

Gospel singer Bahati on Thursday vowed to support Deputy President William Ruto in his 2022 Presidential bid.

Speaking during a function held at the DP’s home in Karen, Bahati said during the previous elections he made a number of stops to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto and he will do the same in 2022.

"I'm really happy to be here, personally I don't have to say it, Millicent knows the work we did last time, we did over 555 stops in the country.

“My mouth would run dry due to the singing and I'm ready to do it again come 2022," he said.

Bahati further asked the government to set aside special funds for artistes who have found it hard to make ends meet in recent months due to the ban on social gatherings.

During the event, Ruto distributed an assortment of equipment, which included car washing machines, water tanks, sound, laundry and catering equipment to 30 youth and women groups from Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Dagoretti North and Kamukunji constituencies in Karen, Nairobi County.

The programme, which targets 5000 young entrepreneurs, is aimed at supporting them in terms of innovation and

to overcome various obstacles that come with startups.

“We need to make use of their untapped potential and realise their dreams and aspirations.

“In turn, this will boost their incomes, generate jobs and inspire youths to take charge of their lives,” tweeted the DP.

In recent weeks, Ruto has steered clear of politics, opting to engage in acts of charity that cushion the common mwananchi from the effects of Covid-19 on the economy.
