Patient discharged from Mbagathi re-admitted at JM hospital in Ol Kalou

Medics from Nyandarua County have quarantined a woman discharged from Mbagathi hospital a week ago after she developed signs of coronavirus disease.

The woman who hails from Ol Jororok in Nyandarua West has been quarantined at JM Memorial hospital in Ol Kalou.

Nyandarua County Director of Medical Services Martha Mwathi, said the 35-year-old patient was placed in the hospital's isolation centre for more tests before a decision is made on how she will be managed.

“She was previously at Mbagathi hospital in Nairobi after she had showed the same symptoms but after 14 days, she was discharged after she tested negative. It was in the last two days that she has developed the symptoms similar to those of coronavirus,” Dr Mwathi said.

She regretted that the patient was supposed to self–quarantine in Nairobi but decided to travel to her parents’ home in OlJoro Orok, Nyandarua County.

“This is against the doctor's advice as she did not have to travel. If she turns positive, it is likely that she has infected others,” lamented Mwathi.

She refused to rule out the patient could be suffering from TB, which has symptoms similar to Covid–19.

“We are carrying more tests on her and that is why we are keeping her in the hospital. We will advise accordingly,” she noted.
