Erling Haaland's latest record surpasses Messi and Ronaldo stats

Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland is becoming the hottest property in European football.

Haaland, 19, has got better goalscoring stats than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age - and has scored more goals in the Champions League this season than the entire Barcelona team.

Dortmund striker Haaland scored twice on Tuesday night against Paris Saint-Germain to make it 10 goals in the Champions League and has now averaged a goal every 46 minutes in the competition.

Messi had managed just two in the same stage in his career while Portugal superstar Ronaldo had not even scored in the Champions League when he was 19 years and 212 days, according to stats from bookmaker Betting Expert.

Haaland, who joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg last month, has reached double figures in the Champions League four games faster than any other player in the competition's history and is the only teenager to reach double figures in a single season.

The statistics are endless but his goals also prove that he is the all-round striker. He is 6ft 4in, was timed running 60 metres in a blistering 6.64 seconds - just 0.3 secs off the world record - and one of his goals was a poacher’s finish and the other a spectacular 20-yard strike.

It gets even worse for Manchester United who were desperate to sign Haaland - son of former Leeds, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest midfielder Alf-Inge - but missed out as he went to Dortmund for what now looks a bargain £18m.

However, Haaland - who has scored 11 goals have come in only 450 minutes of football since January - knows that he has had more minutes and opportunities at Dortmund than arguably he would have at Old Trafford and in the Premier League.

Haaland said: “I am glad about the man-of-the-match award, but feel like I still can do a lot better. I have to play better at this level, have to work hard to improve.

"The result is quite a dangerous one, as PSG has a very strong team and can still go through in the return leg.”

Incredibly, Haaland has scored 39 goals this season with six hat-tricks and 11 goals in seven games for Dortmund and is the first player in the club’s history to score on his Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League debuts.

Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel said:” He is a goal scorer, he is 19, he's a great talent. He still has huge room for improvement but he is on the road to becoming a truly great player."
