Universities and Colleges Football League (UCFL) champions Zetech University extended their good run with victories at the weekend.

Zetech Titans, who are seeking to defend the men’s title, edged out Utalii College 1-0 before ending the weekend with a 2-0 win over newcomers Mater Hospital.

Kevin Kakai netted the winning goal against Utalii while Joel Khayimba and Onesmus Mutunga were on target against Mater.

In the women’s title hunt, Zetech Sparks extended their winning streak to six games after hammering Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and United States International University of Africa.

Sparks drubbed the duo by an identical 4-0 score to enhance their chances of retaining their title.

Despite the victories, Titans head coach Ben Kitolo said his charges needed to work harder for better results.

“We missed numerous scoring chances and we must work on our finishing for us to improve on our goal scoring for convincing victories.”

He added that this year’s league is more competitive and hence the need to up their game.

“The league is more competitive because of the new sides that have joined. I must say that even though we are every team’s target, the entrants pose a bigger threat because they are strong and eager to impress.”

Meanwhile, Titans bowed out of the FKF Betway Cup heads high after going down 5-6 to FC Talanta in post-match penalties.

The students had held the FKF Super League side to a 2-2 draw in regular time setting stage for the decisive spot kicks.
