Thieves poison dogs, steal jewelry from Muthaiga home

A gang of suspected thieves poisoned two dogs at a private residence in Muthaiga area, Nairobi before stealing electronic goods, jewelry and cash.

Police said they are investigating the incident that happened at the compound of Kumar Shah on Tuesday night. Shah refused to comment on the attack.

The three suspected thieves jumped over a perimeter wall while armed with a pistol and crude weapons and poisoned the two dogs that were within the compound before they forced their way into the house where they robbed the occupants.

The gang later escaped after a panic button was pressed. No one was injured in the 11pm incident. Police said they suspect the men had prior information on the compound.

Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo said they had launched investigations into the incident.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which a 17-year-old student who was hit and killed by a stone in Mukuru slums, Nairobi.

The deceased identified as Collins Oira died at the scene after he was hit by a stone thrown by unknown people.

Police said the deceased was cooking on the roadside when he was hit by unknown person. The body was moved to the mortuary.
