Joho spotted in a Sh55,000 t-shirt

Known for his love for expensive attire and luxurious cars, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was once described by netizens as the best-dressed governor due to his well-thought-out outfits that are evident on his social media pages.

On Monday, Joho was spotted in a black rainbow color short-sleeve Versace t-shirt which retails for around Sh55,000.

Kenyans online were quick to weigh in on the matter with some saying it is his right to put on whatever he desires.

Some, however, saw the funny side of the story and below we have sampled some comments:

Simon Okelo: Create a Mombasa brand and wear it abroad instead of what you have on.

Timothy Sato: At a governor 's level I expect someone to be obsessed with public service delivery.

Hassan: Cha muhimu ni kuziba mwili

Ondiek Kunga: So these guys wanted Joho to come out in some mitumba?

However, this is not the first time there has been debate over the dressing of politicians.

When Governor Mike Sonko was unceremoniously arrested in Taita Taveta, some 20 kilometres outside Voi in 2019, and airlifted to Nairobi for his day in court, his march to the dock was nothing short of drama.

What got Kenyans on social media talking aside from the heated struggle, punching and shouting, was that he was arrested while spotting a tropical, logo print Versace t-shirt.

Torn in the melee, the t-shirt from the Italian luxury fashion house cost $531 (Sh53,000), according to global fashion website, Ikrix.

While the jury is still out there on whether the cotton crew neckpiece was designed for the female gender, Governor Sonko embodies everything Versace.
